BARK CULTURE
Greenbelt was the first municipality in Maryland to establish a dog park for residents. As we come up on the 20th Anniversary of the dog park, we are proud to live and be a part of the wonderful Greenbelt community and share some of the wonders of our city with our four-legged citizens.
The Greenbelt Dog Park is open daily from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thanks to a generous donation from Pepco many years ago, users enjoy lights at the park even during evening hours.
Users are required to have a valid Greenbelt Dog Park License for their dogs. The license can be purchased for a one-time $5 fee from the Greenbelt Community Planning and Development Office located at Suite 200 in the Community Center at 15 Crescent Road. The pass is good for the life of the pet. Proof of current vaccination and county license is required at time of purchase.
The Greenbelt Dog Park Association assists the city in determining needs for the park and has a dispute resolution process by which users help to manage issues that might arise between users - canine or human - at the park. The Association was formed nearly two years before the dog park was opened and established a core group of supporters who have continued the tradition of advocating for the park, dogs in our community and responsible pet ownership.
NEWS
Make sure to pack water and ice
Remember as the temperature soar, dogs are more likely to experience fatigue, discomfort and possibly heat stroke. Make sure to bring water for your pup to the park and if able, a bag of ice to fill the small kiddie pool so dogs can jump in and out to cool off.
